We are almost there!

We are almost there! Although it is extreamly exciting to only have six days left of school, it is also very scary considering the amount of work that we still have left to do! It seems that we have months of school work left but the due dates are fast approaching. But once all the assignments are said and done and handed in, I will have six months of from classes, something I have never had before! I realize that I will be student teaching for two out of these six months but student teaching is so enjoyable and seems to go by so fast. Student teaching, although a very important part of the education program, does not feel like school at all. It feels like work! I am excitied to get back into the classroom and resume doing what I love doing so much, teaching. I am excited to meet a new group of students and staff and hopefully I will make some good connections along the way. Who knows, I might even continue blogging! We will see!

Half way through!

We are officially half way through our second term in our first year of ed! The work and stress levels are both rising and my fellow peers and I are trudging through slowly but surely! My computer literacy class has proved to be far less daunting then expected but with the due date for the e-portfolio approaching quickly I am beginning to once again doubt my capabilites in this course! I need to remind myself though that in this short amount of time I have learned more about computers and how to integrate them into a classroom than ever before! The sample e-portfolios that i have seen look beautiful and so professional. I love the idea of having one but I am not exactly sure how I am going to get to that point! It seems so difficult. Hopefully in my next blog I will be bragging about my e-portfolio and how easy it was to make! Time will tell..

Two weeks in..

I have successfully..or so i think.. completed my first two weeks in using technology in the classroom course. I am starting to enjoy blogging,. Its almost a form of therapy! Now that I know how easy it is to blog I am sure that I will include blogging in my classroom. I think it would work great for english. Students could post their work so that all their freinds and family and possibly others could read and give feedback on. I think that students would find this highly motivating to do good work! I also think that if students are experiencing "writers block" they could blog to get ideas and see who responds. I am sure that there are ways to include blogging in other courses as well. I am also very impressed with my new igoogle home page. It totally beats hotmail and incorporates all my favorite interent uses right on my homepage! I cant belive I had never even heard about igoogle before. This class has proved to be quite interesting so far...

Trying to be positive..

One would think that a twenty two year old who is now in her eighteenth year of school ( including kindergarten!) would have some experience with technology. Amazingly, through-out my education, I have managed to avoid technology. I thought that I was being sneaky and smart. I now realize that I have handicaped myself hugely. In most clasess we were given options and I always chose the option that did not involve technology. During group work, I would offer to do the research to avoid having to make the powerpoint! In my final year of my undergrad I was required to create a powerpoint..on my own... and much to my embarrassment, my younger sister had to help me make it! Now here I am, faced with an entire course based on technology... my very 1st tech course... lets see how it goes!
